“Relative theory is so romantic…”

This is my first journey through the “100 Days of Anime” Challenge, an ambitious project that I’ll be taking. For the full list of prompts, click here.

“Who was your first anime crush?”

Kurisu Makise had me absolutely enamored from the very beginning. Though my last watch of Steins;Gate was at least three years ago, I still remember thinking “Oh gosh, this girl’s *too* cute.” With that came the conflicting feeling of having a crush and cheering on one of my favorite ships (Okabe x Kurisu).

And unknowingly, the first step towards my love for cute, red-headed anime girls.

What made her truly stand out to my young past-self was a general sense of maturity, something I found attractive and rather lacking in anime. Her deadpan reaction to Okabe’s nonsense, quickly followed by a witty rebuttal; while not being overly tsundere. Though Kurisu can stand out as being too serious at times, the show dispells that by showing her charming girly side. A lover of all things adorable, with an irrepressible curiosity that can quickly lead to some cuter moments.

Though Kurisu initially comes off as much older than she really is, these moments shine a light on who she really is. A talented and aspiring university student whose love for various intellectual topics rivals my own for gaming. Unfortunately, one of those will leave me with a raging migraine afterwards. And by the end of the show, I was already cheering for Okabe and the journey to find his own “good ending.”

It’s a double post! Being on a month long hiatus at NaNoWriMo deserves an equally absurd “punishment.” I’m planning to double post daily until I eventually catch up to my original point. Looking forward to that! And to finishing at least one of my big projects by years-end.

Also, those that ignore my footers will never find out I fell hard for the trap at first. Though I’ll never admit it in real life. 😛
